The Australian Government has introduced a new Aged Care Act, which will come into effect from 1 November 2025. These reforms aim to create a simpler, safer, and more transparent aged care system — one that places the rights, dignity, and independence of older Australians at its heart.

The new Act responds to the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, and includes key changes such as:
The Support at Home program is the future of in-home aged care in Australia.
It will replace the current Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) programs. Support at Home aims to deliver flexible, needs-based care so older Australians can continue living where they feel most comfortable — at home.
